Bare Minerals Foundation Stick is the first clean water-based liquid foundation in a stick with SPF 25. This product provides the hydrating benefits of a tinted moisturizer with medium buildable coverage in a handy tube. It can be used as foundation, concealer, contour, or for touch-ups, and is appropriate for all skin types.

I often wear tinted sunscreen during the day instead of a foundation but needed a little more coverage, so I purchased the Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Hydrating Foundation Stick. *

Bare Minerals Foundation Stick Shades

There are 20 shades, ranging from Opal 01 for fair skins to Mahogany 11.5 for deep skin. I purchased the Vanilla 02.

Bare Minerals Foundation Stick Application

It glides on smoothly with the fingertips. For light coverage, start at the forehead blend from the forehead to nose to chin. Then apply a swipe across the cheeks. Next, use your ring finger to apply around the eyes. It can be used as a concealer or for touchup as well. If you’d like to use it as a contour just select two or three shades darker.

For medium coverage you can use the Smoothing Face Brush to buff the foundation into the skin with gentle circular motions. Start at the center and blend outwards.

The foundation stick glided on smoothly in most areas. I especially liked the ease of applying it around the eyes. Using my fingertips to blend it out over my face worked well except around the hairline where it needed some feathering out with a makeup brush.

Finish

It left a soft, somewhat dewy finish. If you want a matte look, a powder may be needed. The foundation stick didn’t settle into wrinkles. The coverage was light, and buildable to medium. It was thicker, like a foundation, and more than a tinted sunscreen.

Wear

It wore well during the day, and I still had plenty on to remove that night, except in a few places around the chin, cheeks, and mouth that had worn off. I like to wear it during the day over my Elta MD Tinted sunscreen, when I want more coverage and thickness.
